Current Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers Must Be 16 Years or Older

  • Thrift Store

    Help Martha's Village sell new and gently used items at our Village Store to support our programs. Please make use of your friendly customer service skills, assisting our retail personnel with finding treasures for the public, and assisting our clients in using their vouchers. All necessary COVID-19 precautions are being taken to ensure your safety and our customers.

    Volunteer opportunities are available: Mon-Sat 9am - 6pm.

  • Emergency Food Pantry

    Volunteers assist with sorting and packaging USDA Food Commodities and donated nonperishable food items to our neighbors in need. Will pre-packaged food items in accordance with the USDA menu guidelines provided. May also sort through donated items to check for expired or damaged items. Required to maintain an organized pantry and to properly store all food items in accordance with all food governing agency requirements. Will need to practice FIFO (First In, First Out) procedures on all stored items located at the pantry and storage areas. May need to lift or carry heavy items weighing approximately 25 pounds or more.

    Volunteer opportunities are available: Mon-Fri 8:30am - 12pm & 1pm - 4pm.

  • Administration

    Help Martha’s Village with your administrative skills, such as filing, shredding, making copies, letter writing, data entry, and other related projects. Duties include projects in departments such as Development, Marketing, Finance, and general administrative support.

    Volunteer opportunities are available: Mon-Fri 9am - 5pm.

  • Food Services

    Help Martha’s Village prepare all major food items for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, with techniques including, but not limited to: knife skills, steam/boil, sauté, roast, and fry, braise/stew, grill, and bake. Ensure the proper handling/storage of all food items following sanitation/health regulations. Also responsible for helping set up and break down of dining room. Volunteer cooks must consider many details during the course of a shift and demonstrate good teamwork. While performing the duties of this job, the volunteer is regularly required to use hands to hold pots, pans, equipment, or equipment controls. The volunteer is frequently required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel or crouch.

    This opportunity is available: Mon-Fri 9am - 1pm & Sat-Sun 11:30am - 1pm.

  • Tutu Workshop

    Help Martha’s Village & Kitchen prepare for our biggest event in the fall. Every year, our Thanksgiving Day 5k tutus make their way around the course. From Children, Pets, and Adults, everyone wants to show off their colorful tutus. We would love to have your creative talents assist us with tutu production. This project is great for all ages and FUN!

  • Public Showers (Must be 18+)

    This position will require that you serve as the first point of contact for the Public Showers. You will have clients log in each day, sign a waiver form, and monitor their 15 minutes of shower time. The security and team will be available to work with you to manage this task. You can offer a towel, washcloth, and hygiene bag to each person.

Volunteer FAQs

We welcome individuals, groups, families, students, and children, preferably 16 years and older (minors need to be accompanied by a Guardian). No one under the age of 16 can work in the Kitchen or serve on the line. 16-year-olds can help clean and give food service support in the Dining Room.

That’s up to you! Our programs offer flexible day, evening, or weekend schedules to accommodate your work or school responsibilities. That is to say; you can volunteer as much or little as you like.

New volunteers should attend Volunteer Orientation. At Orientation, you will complete a volunteer application, take a tour of our facility and learn about our volunteer opportunities. As a result, we will help determine the best placement based on your skills, interests, and talents. Training provides you with the tools necessary to receive the most from your experience and discover the many rewards of volunteering.
