The services provided at Martha’s are always free of charge and are easily accessible under one roof. Martha’s Village and Kitchen now touches thousands of lives each year and is the largest provider of homeless services in the Coachella Valley.
Transitional Housing: Our main facility provides 120 beds for homeless men, women, and children. This includes 102 beds for families with children and
18 beds for homeless single men and women. Annually we provide over 84,000 nights of shelter, of which 23,000 are for children under 15.
Emergency Shelter: Responding to the urgent need in the community,
Martha’s erected a new on-site emergency shelter where both single adults
and families can reside for up to 120 days. The year-round shelter
accommodates 100 people every night. The program offers residents safe shelter, three meals a day, shower and hygiene care, and access to Martha’s Village’s existing supportive services.
Food Services: Martha’s prepares three meals per day, seven days each week for residents and offers lunch seven days each week for homeless and/or impoverished community members. The kitchen serves approximately 320,000 meals to over 2,000 men, women, and children each year.
Career and Education Center: Our resource center provides employment preparation and career development assistance. The center serves both residents and non-resident community members. In addition to job seeking resources, we offer Adult Basic Education, English as a Second Language classes, and Computer Skills Classes. During the year, over 9,900 people have accessed the Career & Ed. Center.
Children’s Services: We offer high-quality child care for infants, pre-school children, and after school programs for school age children residing at Martha’s facility. Childcare staff also arranges summer camp programs. The facility and its playground offer a stimulating, safe, and structured environment in which our children play and learn. This year our children have accessed this program a total of 3,116 times.
Health Care: A licensed community clinic, Martha’s Medical Clinic offers primary and preventive care free of charge to uninsured children and adults who reside at our facility as well as the community. The demand for services has increased with the recent addition of 100 emergency shelter beds. We serve over 1,900 patients with about 4,700 visits.
Case Management: Through individualized case plans, counseling, information and referral, Case Managers ensure that clients are on track for successfully “graduating” from Martha’s. Case Managers provide about 3,500 hours in one-on-one weekly meetings, helping families with such matters as setting and accomplishing goals, keeping track of finances, housing counseling, and referrals to programs and community resources.
Recovery Services: This program provides a range of services to address drug and alcohol addiction including individual counseling and education and process groups.
Emergency Assistance: Each year we provide emergency assistance to 2,500 low-income members of the community with food boxes, utility assistance, rental assistance, transportation assistance, clothing vouchers, infant supplies and more. Additionally, about 2,700 food boxes are distributed to low-income families, which represent an additional 48,600 meals.
