Martha's Village & Kitchen was designed to meet the Coachella Valley’s need for a comprehensive service center for the homeless and impoverished. For 20 years Martha’s Village has effectively utilized donations to provide professional and structured programs and services to our neighbors in need. As a result of our residential and social services, 92 percent of families served who exited our Transitional Housing program moved to permanent and stable housing. The services provided at Martha’s Village are always free of charge and are easily accessible under one roof. Martha's Village now touches thousands of lives a year, is the largest provider of homeless services in Riverside County, and is a model to other such facilities.
Challenge to Change
What truly sets Martha’s Village and Father Joe’s Villages apart from other programs is the program Challenge to Change. This is a required two week motivational program that truly challenges each neighbor in need to take control of their lives. Martha’s Village provides a “one-stop-shopping” approach. We provide a wide array of programs and services to give each resident the tools they need to bring about change in their lives.
Residential Transitional Housing
Our main facility provides 120 beds for our neighbors in need. This includes 96 beds for families with children, and 24 beds for homeless single men and women. Annually we provide over 43,800 nights of shelter, of which 22,338 are for children under 15.

Food Services
Martha’s Village & Kitchen serves nearly 300,000 meals a year to more than 3,500 children, families and adults. Food Services provides three meals a day for the Village’s Transitional and Emergency Shelter residents. In addition, a lunch meal is served to community neighbors in need in accordance with FDA published guidelines.

Children's Services
We offer high-quality child care for infants and pre-schoolers. Child care staff also arrange summer camp
programs. The facility and its playground offer a stimulating, safe and structured environment. During the year our children access the program a total of 3,116 times.

Career & Education
During the year the Center provides access to employment preparation and career development assistance to over 3,798 residents and non-residents. We also offer adult basic education, GED classes, English as a second language classes, and computer skills classes.

Health Care
A licensed community clinic, Martha's Village's Medical Clinic
offers primary and preventive care free of charge to the uninsured
homeless. We provide care for over 1,900 patients with about 6,747
visits and 12,500 prescriptions each year. The clinic is open M-F, 8:30
a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Case Management
Through individualized case plans, counseling, information and referral, case managers ensure that clients are on track for successfully “graduating” from Martha’s Village. Case managers provide about 3,500 hours per year in one-on-one weekly meetings, helping with setting and accomplishing goals, keeping track of finances, housing counseling, referrals to programs, and connecting residents to community resources.

Emergency Assistance
Each year this program provides over 2,500 low-income members of the community with food boxes, utility assistance, rental assistance, transportation assistance, clothing vouchers, infant supplies and more. The food boxes that are distributed during the year to low-income families represent an additional 48,600 meals.

Holiday Baskets
During the Thanksgiving/Christmas holiday season Martha’s Village provides holiday meal baskets for over 2,000 local neighbors in need.
Duroville Food Distribution
Each month Martha’s Village partners with Sacred Heart Parish in Palm Desert and uses its facilities, equipment, and staff to distribute food to our neighbors in Duroville, one of the most impoverished areas of Riverside County.
Monthly Food Distribution
Each month in partnership with FIND, Martha’s Village volunteers prepare 1,000 bags of groceries to be given to local families who have run out of food.
Daily Lunch and other services to Non-residents
Lunch is provided each day to 300 – 500 non-residents. Access to many of our programs is made available to non-residents to improve their lives and job searches.
