Real estate agents from Coldwell Banker locations across the Coachella Valley spent Wednesday morning at Martha's Village & Kitchen organizing donated clothes, assembling bags of food for distribution and feeding the homeless.
“It's a labor of love,” said Barbara Peters, a real estate agent from the La Quinta office.
“We see a lot of people that lose their homes. We're aware of the poverty. It's a sad situation.”
That's why the real estate agency decided to volunteer time at the homeless shelter, said Sue Sheehan, an agent with the Palm Desert office.
About 12 agents representing offices in La Quinta, Palm Desert and Indian Wells volunteered Wednesday for the first time as a group and plan to return on a regular basis to help out.
Several of the real estate agent volunteers issued a challenge to other companies to do the same.
“Right now people are struggling. It's important to be part of the community and give back,” said Sheehan.
