Indio, California — (January 16, 2012) When times are tough and money is tight, we look for champions in the community who can come up with a great idea and make a real difference. One of those champions is KC’s 23 ˝ Hour Plumbing in Palm Springs, which has already collected more than one ton of food for the needy, and has instituted a program to continue the drive all year long.

“It’s not just about donating food during the holidays,” says Kelly Russum, president of KC’s 23 1/2 Hour Plumbing. “Feeding the community takes a year-round commitment.”

Throughout their food drive, KC’s has gone out of their way to make it simple for the public to contribute. In addition to a drop-off point at their main office, their technicians will pick up food donations from customers during service visits and pick up donations from people who simply give them a call.

“Our goal is to make feeding the community as easy as possible. For instance, if a person sees one of our service trucks, they can simply stop by and give the driver some food,” added KC’s Kelly Russum. “It’s important for people to take charge, and providing food for people who need it makes our clients feel good too. Everyone wins.” This includes Martha’s Village, which has already received hundreds of pounds of food to support each of the food service and distribution programs we offer. The company’s history of service, from breast cancer awareness and AIDS prevention campaigns has served them well by generating new customers and goodwill throughout the community. That spirit even is reflected in the company’s motto, “We’re the good guys your friends told you about.”
